Hosur is an industrial city located in of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located on the bank of the river Ponnaiyar, 35 kilometres (22 mi) South-East of Bengaluru and 306 kilometres (190 mi) west of Chennai, the state capital. Hosur is a satellite city and it is the home to major manufacturing industries like Ashok Leyland, Titan, TVS Motors, Caterpillar, Sundaram Fasteners, Schaffler, etc., Dr. C. Rajagopalachari hailed from a small village in hosur rose to the highest position in the nation as the first Governor General of independent India, leader of the Congress Party, and as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. It is also known as "The Little England of India".
