This place is a well-known reserve forest located in the southern part of Chennai. That is round about 24 kilometres from the city. This place is located at Medavakkam-Velanchery High Road between Tambaram and Velachery. This reserve forest covers an area of 320 hectares, but the actual area of the forest is about 2,400 hectares. This place is popular among bird watchers as one can find more than 85 species of birds.ConnectivityThe 320-hectare Nanmangalam reserved forest is located 10 kilometres from Velachery that has a scrubland all over the granite quarry. Social infrastructure Forest department of Chennai plans to develop data connectivity in the area. The area located near Medavakkan, also has a residential locality.
