Dum Dum is a north Kolkata suburb that is a part of the Barrackpore Commissionaire. It is a part of the North 24 Parganas and is covered by the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority. The neighbourhood is surrounded by areas like Motijheel, Nager Bazaar, Private Road, Ghughu Danga, Lal Bagan, Raj Bari and Jawpur. Dum Dum is home to the Gun & Shell Factory Cossipore and Ordnance Factory. There are several other small-scale companies based out of the area.
